Some of the more frequent children's problems that I deal with are:
Bedwetting, nail biting, thumb sucking, anxiety, performance anxiety, lack of concentration, behavioural problems at home or at school, test and exam nerves, sleeping difficulties, nightmares, lack of confidence, fear of: dogs, spiders, the dentist and many other fears and phobias.
You may find that relatively few hypnotherapists are experienced in and enjoy working with children. I have 30 years' experience in teaching, counselling and clinical hypnosis.
Children are exciting to work with because they have vivid, active and receptive imaginations.
The first part of any of my sessions consists of a chat to find out what your child doesn’t like about their problem and find out how they would prefer to be, think, feel and behave. The main focus is on the solution rather than on the problem.
The second part is the lightly hypnotic relaxation with gentle yet powerful positive suggestions
I usually make a recording for them to listen to at home which reinforces what we did in the session.
You are, of course, very welcome to be in the room if your child is more comfortable with you there. However, my focus is on talking directly to your child rather than talking to you about them.
